Throughout human history -- and even to this day -- people throughout the world have succesfully lived their lives completely without shoes. This has allowed for their feet to stay flexible, strong and healthy as nature intended. Today, we regularly live on surfaces that are actually remarkably compatible with barefoot living, including carpet, tile, hardwood flooring, concrete, asphalt and more. We CAN live barefoot even in the developed world -- and even in public.
Founded in 2010, the Barefoot Alliance (formerly The Primalfoot Alliance) advocates for barefoot living, because that's how nature intended it. Anyone who recognizes individuals' innate rights to go barefoot is one of our supporters. More officially, we welcome and support smaller localized groups of barefoot supporters and believe that advocacy takes place best face to face and in one's own geographical area.
The Barefoot Alliance is led by an advisory committee made up of barefooters and scientists together.
Our goal is to help usher in a new collective mindset in which people can shop, dine, exercise, play, learn and live their daily lives barefoot, if they so choose, without fear of hassle or discrimination based on urban myths and stereotypes.
